Roy Edwin Snowden

Roy Edwin Snowden CMSGT, RET. USAF, 82, died Sunday, February 5, 2012 at Candler Hospital. He was born in Fitzgerald, Georgia where he attended local schools. At the age of seventeen, he joined the United States Air Force serving during World War II and the Korean Conflict. During his tenure in the Air Force, he was an aircraft mechanic retiring as a supervisor in 1970 with twenty four years of service. After retirement, he worked for CAT as a bus driver, Kainet Division, American Cyanamid and as an independent trucker. He was a Methodist by faith and a member of Solomon's Lodge No. 1 F.&A.M.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Wilma Snowden of Savannah; children, Paul Moore and his wife, Lisa; Bill Lewis and his wife, Tricia Boone; Pam Snowden Murphy and her husband, Mike all of Savannah; Eddie Snowden of Tybee Island; Paula Snowden of Savannah; sisters, Billie Jean Brown and her husband Burch of Ellabell; Evelyn Helmly of Savannah; eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel.
Funeral: 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 8, 2012 in the Islands Chapel of Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors.
Burial: Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
